SEIKO DRIVE – specialist driving lenses

Driving comes with many challenges, but if you’re a glasses wearer there are even more factors that come into play. Standard prescription lenses will help you to see better but glare can be a problem, particularly when driving at night. This is where products like SEIKO DRIVE specialist driving lenses that can improve your experience behind the wheel.

Challenges of driving with glasses

Glare can be a real problem for drivers. During the day, the sun can reflect off surfaces such as a wet road or other cars, causing glare to reflect into your eyes, but at night it can be even more challenging.

Even when your eyes adjust to see in low light, the bright lights of oncoming cars can cause great discomfort like squinting. Glare from night driving can cause eye strain and temporarily hinder your vision, making your journey more stressful and somewhat more dangerous.

SEIKO glasses for driving

Wearing standard single vision glasses may not be enough to eliminate glare, and increase your visual comfort in these dark winter months. The best way to overcome this may be to invest in specialist driving lenses, like SEIKO DRIVE.

We’re proud to be SEIKO specialists, and be able to provide lens products that offer precision for vision, and are highly customised to accommodate your individual needs.

Developed to give you optimal vision, SEIKO Drive lenses not only tackle glare but give you greater clarity of vision at all distances. Many standard lenses have a slight distortion around the edges, reducing your field of vision, but SEIKO Drive lens technology has eliminated this, giving you improved clarity and visual field.

SEIKO Drive X progressive lenses for varifocal wearers also allow you a clear view of the dashboard as well as the road ahead.

SEIKO has also worked hard to produce a lens coating that reduces glare as much as possible. RoadClearCoat is incorporated into all SEIKO Drive lenses and is designed to increase contrast in low light conditions as well as reduce glare. This is especially useful for night driving.

During the winter, you’re likely to be driving to and from work in the dark, so having glasses that give you the best possible vision, comfort and increased confidence on the road is a distinct advantage.

Check your vision

Before getting new driving glasses, it’s essential to have an up-to-date glasses prescription. Distance acuity, or the clearness of vision, is essential for driving. You need to be able to read a number plate from 20 metres and have visual acuity of 6/12 or above, something that can only be tested by an optometrist.

So, why not contact our  Bond Street opticians to arrange an eye exam and to discuss driving lenses for glasses?
